How the calculator works
It adds your selected allowance twice to both furniture dimensions: rug width = furniture width + 2 × allowance; rug length = furniture length + 2 × allowance. The result is a planning rectangle, not a guaranteed fit or an automatically chosen standard size.
Choose the right input
For dining, enter the table dimensions and test the allowance with your actual pulled-out chairs. For living rooms, enter the furniture zone you want supported rather than only the coffee table. For bedrooms, use the outside of the bed frame; this simple equal-margin model does not represent a rug starting partway under the bed.
Finish with a floor test
Mark the target outline using floor-safe tape. Open doors, move chairs and walk the main routes. Compare the actual dimensions of available rugs. Include the pad in height checks and make sure the floor and furniture remain properly supported.
